East End Newcastle CPTED Study

The Design Partnership was commissioned to undertake a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) study for the East End of Newcastle. The CPTED Study was integrated into the Revitalisation Project for the East End.

In its action plan, the CPTED principles considered natural surveillance, territorial reinforcement, access control, image and maintenance, and activity support. These principles were used to inform the design of the public spaces in the East End, ensuring that the revitalisation project took into account the safety of the area. The Design Partnership also provided recommendations for the implementation of CPTED principles in the design of new projects and existing built environments. This will enable the East End of Newcastle to become a safer and more inviting place for its residents and visitors.
